Copper
moves up in futures trade on global cues
(MAR 05)
Buoyed by a firming global
trend, copper prices moved up by 0.17 per cent to Rs 432.40 per kg in futures
trade today as speculators created fresh positions. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April traded higher by 75 paise, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 432.40 per kg in business turnover of 12,326 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in the June contract traded higher by the same margin to Rs 436.75 per kg in 652 lots.
Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators in tandem with a firming global trend mainly led to rise in copper prices at futures market here.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery rose 0.7 per cent to 8,636 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange. www.goldennifty.com
